Nels Cline wrests sounds from a guitar that amaze. Only person in recent memory to use a barbie doll leg in a prepared guitar performance. When not performing with Vinny Golia, Alex Cline, Carla Bozulich, Mike Watt, Devin Sarno, Thurston Moore, or Gregg Bendian he usually can be found performing with someone else.

Michael Intriere has performed experimental and improvisational cello for over 20 years. He has collaborated with many of the L.A. area's foremost improvisers, most recently vocalist Anna Homler, reedman Lynn Johnston, and violinist Julie Fowells. His recent solo performances mark a new direction in his music-making.

Heather Lockie plays viola in W.A.C.O. and guitar, viola, vocal for her own group Leather Hyman. She tutors English and teaches music and art for money. She also draws and paints some.

Why is improvisation more important to Rod Poole than composition? Rod says, "I am interested in mood and feeling in relation to the absolute moment. I find that improvisation takes the player to a place outside of predetermined areas. For me, this is the most exciting quality of open-ended playing." For this show he will be bowing guitar.

Rick Potts currently of Solid Eye, Human Hands and Consolidated Lint, formerly of LAFMS, Le Forte Four, Human Hands and Potts Plumbing Supplies is an improviser and instrument maker. Although he grew up with his father's stand-up bass (named Bertha) he will be playing it in performance for the first time.

Josie Roth is a vocalist/violist who has been active in the alternative art, music and dance world in Los Angeles since the late 70s. Roth has combined her varied talents to become a multimedia performer. Presently she composes sound collages and plays with them live using viola, vocals and other sound making devices. For this performance she will rediscover the purity of solo viola exclusively.
